So we all have known about this new dashboard update for a while now and we all have been patiently waiting for everything that it will bring. That time is almost upon us and we want to just remind everyone of what this update will bring
The update is modelled after Microsoft’s new Metro aesthetic, also seen on Windows Phone devices and set to be a key part of Windows 8. The new interface supports voice and gesture controls across the whole dashboard rather than only in the dedicated Kinect Hub, and Bing voice search is implemented for users in the U.S., Canada and the UK, with other territories to follow. Gesture and voice controls will also work in apps as well as in the main Dashboard.
- New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile
- Beacons and Facebook Sharing
- Enhanced Family Settings
- Integrated voice and gesture controls across the dashboard and in apps
- Bing voice search (Available this year in the US, UK and CA)
Beacons are exactly what they sound like, this lets you tell your friends exactly what it is you want to play, you know, without actually telling them yourself and your friends may get the hint that you want to play with them.
You will soon also be able to roam with your gold account. With the inclusion of the new cloud storage for Gold Members you’ll be able to take your account seamlessly between multiple consoles.
Facebook is also getting more involved with Xbox and you can soon post all your achievements.
My favorite new feature is the addition of a TV services on your console. Which will let you watch live TV, acting as it’w own cable box with quite a number of good channels.
