New Gears 3 DLC packs maps, skins and… prestige mode?News
Microsoft has released a date on the next DLC for Gears of War 3, the Fenix Rising pack, which will be hitting Xbox Live on January 17th, 2012.
There is a rather generous amount of content that is being offered here, including five new maps (Academy, Anvil, Depths, Escalation, and The Slab) as well as four new multiplayer skins (Recruit, Clayton, Thrashball Cole, Savage Marauder, Savage Kantus), two of which you might already recognize as they were already included in the game’s limited edition.
The most interesting addition is the ability to Re-Up your multiplayer level once reaching the cap of 100. Much like Call of Duty‘s prestige mode, players will be offered the chance to restart level progression once reaching the cap, though in Gears players keep all other progression. Players can Re-Up three times, earning new emblems and weapon skins as they do.
So, as they bring in something a little different for Gears that they seemed to have gotten from Call of Duty it adds some interesting rewards. Plus, weapon skins are always nice to have.
